Artist: Alex Giroux

Nation: Coast Salish; Chilliwack, BC

Born and raised in Chilliwack, BC, Alex started carving 14 years ago. His Elders taught him his heritage and although his other art forms include painting, leather, grass work and beading, Alex prefers to work with wood.

A self taught artist, he has done joint pieces with artist Richard Story and been commissioned by Lieutenant governor Iona Campenola in 2005. His influences are Susan Pointe, Francis Horne, Stan Greene and the Davidson Brothers Reg and Robert.

He currently resides in Mission BC.
